Computation of the necessary desiccators
Computation of desiccant units
1. The selection of a barrier film with a low water vapor transmission rate (WVTR):
| a) | PE film meeting DIN 55 530 for a moderate climate (Europe) and for short transport and storage periods. Water vapor permeability = 0.4 g/m^2; per day, thickness 200 µ | |
| b) | Aluminum composite barrier film meeting DIN 55 531 for all climatic regions and for longer transport and storage times, water vapor permeability = 0.1 g/m^2 per day |
2. Measure and calculate the surface area of the barrier envelope in square metres.
3. Find out the expected transport and storage period, in days.
4. A separate calculation must be performed if materials that contain water are included.
Formula:
| Number of desiccant units = | WVTR x surface area x transport and storage time |
| 6 g Water vapor admission /Unit |
