Mode of operation
The products developed by Lucent Technologies and Bell Laboratories (USA) are patented worldwide. They are equipped with highly porous copper particles, which bind to reactive catalysts.
The porous copper particles neutralise not only the reactive catalysts in the packaging unit within ca. 40 minutes, but also corrosive gases of moisture, which migrate through the film during the storage period. The gases are permanently bound to the copper particles.
Since particles cannot volatilise, there is no contact reaction with the packaged good or with the user.
It is possible to enable a protection function for up to 15 years, because saturation of the copper articles sets in later. During this time the film does not have to be exchanged and an intermittent inspection of the packaged goods is not necessary.
The use of INTERCEPT Technology™ products is independent of the material to be protected. It protects all metals as well as seals and all types of polymers and organic materials. UV-radiation cannot penetrate the film.
