Overview

The desiccant method is a simple three-component process:
1. a » barrier envelope / bag which seals moisture out.
2. a » desiccant product inside the barrier envelope to absorb moisture
3. a » humidity indicator card which indicates relative humidity

The desiccant method - detailed

For effective corrosion protection, the barrier envelope must be proof against water vapor. It encloses the air within the packaging, together with the packed materials and the desiccant, sealing them off from outside conditions.

The humidity of the enclosed air is reduced by the desiccant to such a level that no corrosion occurs during the required period of protection. Because this method is based on the adsorption of water vapor, and does not therefore release any active chemical materials, it can be used, almost without restriction, for all materials.

Typical applications

  • machine construction
  • food and pharmaceutical industry
  • precision mechanics and optical devices
  • semiconductors and electronics
  • logistical materials for the armed forces
  • industrial goods

Unsere Produkte für die Trockenmittelmethode

» Aluminium Compound Foils Aluminium compound foils are suitable for packing solid or liquid products or pastes. They are primarily used for aroma sensitive or humidity sensitive goods. They are also suitable for medical packaging, as they can be efficiently sterilized…

» Polyethylene Foils Barrier films made from low-density polyethylene (LD-PE) (meeting TL 8135-0019 and DIN 55 530) are not only suitable for protection against dust and dirt, but also – in combination with desiccants – as a barrier against moisture...

» Desiccants The job of a desiccant is to reduce ambient humidity within the barrier film package by adsorption, thereby excluding the risk of corrosion...

» Humidity Indicators Ströbel humidity color change indicators allow visual inspection of the condition of a sealed package by readily detecting any change in the water vapor ratio (relative humidity) ...
